DAAD Anounces New Program: RISE Professional

Summer Internships in Science and Engineering with German Companies

Students with demonstrated competence in an actual work environment are more marketable at graduation than students without. In addition, scientists and engineers with international experience are increasingly sought after in both business and industry. In order to meet this need, the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) has created unique opportunities for science and engineering students from the United States and Canada interested in gaining serious practical, career-building experience in Germany through the RISE professional program, where summer placements take place in a broad spectrum of companies.

Recent graduates (with US or Canadian citizenship), Master's and PhD students from North American Universities in the fields of biology, chemistry, engineering, geology and physics (or a closely related field) are invited to apply. Undergraduates who are RISE alumni or former DAAD scholarship holders are also eligible. German language requirements depend on the nature of the internship.

All participants receive a scholarship from DAAD and an additional stipend from their host company to help cover living expenses. Funding is possible for a period of 6 weeks to 4 months between May and September 2007.

Online registration opens on November 1
